#1 reason people don't reach their goals

For those who know me well you understand that goals are my life. From writing down daily tasks to weekly, monthly, and even yearly goals.  I have taught many patients and clients the art of achieving their goals but still see those that unfortunately fail to reach their dreams.  The number one reason why most people never get to see their dreams come true is that they set goals too big, TO BEGIN WITH.  I'm not saying you shouldn't aim high.  I'm suggesting that you shouldn't set yourself up with the most challenging goal at the outset because you simply are not ready for it.

Some people decide to set goals of paying off $50,000 in credit card debt in 2 months or want to lose 100 pounds in 2 months without ever stepping into a gym or even knowing which foods are protein, carbohydrates, or fats.  Without realizing it you are killing your chances for success.  Instead, you apply tons of pressure and cause yourself anxiety. The result is disappointment and then you quit, UGH.  It is impossible to make long, sustainable changes in a short amount of time.

We probably all know someone who puts all their effort into an attainable goal without putting in the necessary time.  They don't reach their goal, they become paralyzed because of fear.  They look at their goal as unreachable and eventually quit.  The problem isn't high expectations, it’s the time you allow yourself to reach it.  So, what should you do?  Why not focus on your small wins.  Baby steps will get you closer and closer to what you want to achieve.  Let me explain.

The bigger and harder your goal is the more likely you won't do anything about it.  You will continue pushing it to the side remembering the first couple of failures.  Now, if you set small wins for yourself you will eventually make progress.  Don't aim for huge progress from the start, aim for small improvements.  It doesn't sound impossible, right?

A perfect example is healthy eating.  If you've been eating junk food your whole life and then one day you set yourself a goal to change your eating habits entirely, well then, most likely you will fail.  But if you replace your “bad” snacking with healthy choices, you will have a better chance of reaching your goals.  It's small and doable. And if you continue these small changes you create momentum for yourself.  That's when you will actually start making things happen.  You won't be frustrated and feel like a loser.  Small wins will get you motivated to keep taking action.  In the end, you will get where you want to be.  Remember that, and you will be on the fast track to SUCCESS!
