Chicken Lives Matter

Well, the least we can agree on one thing…that their eggs do….matter that is!  What? You don't eat eggs because you are afraid of your cholesterol going up?  Oh my!  Where have you been for the last 51 years?  Sit back my friends and let me educate you on the truth about eggs. It's time we set things straight and give chickens the respect they deserve.

For the longest time, one of our favorite foods, and one of the best for your health, has been given a bad rap based on outdated information.  Since the 1970's mis information campaign, we have been told that eggs will raise your cholesterol and possibly lead to a heart attack.  I have been studying integrated medicine for 27 years.  Because I am a Chiropractor and Health and Wellness Coach, I treat the cause of patient's diseases, not the symptoms.  With this, nutrition plays a big part of the healing process.  It never sat right with me how eggs were maligned and thought of as bad for your health.  Back in the 70's the idea of fats being bad was the “in” thing.  Hence lo-fat and no-fat products were born.  It was the beginning of an obesity BOOM in our country.  We gorged on carbohydrates and eliminated fats causing us to get fatter, sicker and throw away the yolks of our poor eggs.

I assure you that eggs will do no such thing, especially if you get them from the right places.  Eggs will do exactly the opposite.  Eggs will support better cholesterol and a healthier heart.  Let me explain why eggs are actually good for you and which eggs are the best.

When we talk about the fat of eggs, we are actually referring to the yolks.  There are good fats and bad fats as well as good and bad cholesterols.  Egg yolks contain good fats and support good cholesterol. The best kind of eggs come from hens that are raised from pastures and graze on grass, not corn.  The same goes for the other animals that we eat.  The hens that eat plants, seeds and insects will produce eggs with strong shells and a rich, orange yolk.  This yolk is filled with carotenoids, minerals, anti-inflammatory omega-3s and other beneficial vitamins.  Free-range is not the same as pasture-raised.  Just when you thought fat-free was good for you, it’s just a marketing term.  Free-range chickens are usually locked in a warehouse eating soy and grains.  These yolks are usually pale yellow.  Not exactly good for you, yet still they won't raise your cholesterol.

Pasture-raised eggs are typically found in special markets and are usually expensive, especially if feeding a tribe.  The next best thing is omega-3 eggs.  These eggs are found everywhere.  The hens that lay these omega-3 eggs are fed flax seeds which supports a healthy heart.  Both options will fuel your body with good fats, protein, omega-3 fatty acids and other nutrients.

The best part is theses eggs taste great.  They are a great source of protein, which you know are the building blocks of muscle.  Come on, you should have this phrase memorized already lol.  More muscle on the body, the more calories we burn throughout the day, even at rest.  And here is a tidbit of info for you.  I've learned from a very well-known integrated cardiologist that our first meal of the day should always start with a protein and a fat, not a carbohydrate.  You see while we are sleeping and in a fasted state, cortisol rises.  In fact, cortisol is the highest in the morning, both for men and women.  It is the response of fight and flight.  Our bodies are supposed to jump out of bed and get ready for the day, at least for some of us.  This cortisol response is healthy and normal.  What isn't healthy is eating carbohydrates as our first meal causing our already elevated cortisol levels to go even higher causing inflammation.  Yes, Collagen with the right ingredients, like LIVLIFE Collagen, can help fight this, but can you imagine the better results you will have if you combine the collagen with the right balanced diet of protein and fats?  Menopause belly… bye-bye, low libidos and testosterone levels will also improve greatly.  You whole body will love you for it.

My morning eating routine has definitely changed since acquiring this knowledge. After a 12 hour fast, this works the best for me since my blood type is O+, I always start my day with 3 eggs, 1/4 cup of egg whites added in coconut oil.  This gives me 30 grams of protein for my muscles and enough fats for my healthy heart.  My stamina is through the roof, and my digestive problems are all cured, just because of changing my morning breakfast to eggs with fats.

Let's give eggs the second chance they deserve.  You will not be sorry.  Great for you and taste great too. If you have any questions about this article, or about changing your diet to eliminate your symptoms instead of masking them, or even about the LIVLIFE Collagen give me a call at my office.  My number is 631-979-8508.  Helping others stay healthy is my passion.  Always love, always laugh and always LIVLIFE.
